What elements and factors make a good rap or hip hop artist? What sorts out the men from the boys?. Why do Dre and Eminem make it in the music business (and stay at it) while so many others come and go?. Is there a magic formula? Do people have that ‘thing’, or is it simply hard work?
Is it their unique way of writing lyrics? Is it the original hooks and beats they provide? Or is it simply that they have immense talent, and no matter what they do, it will just happen for them?
One important factor in being successful in anything is hard work. Whether you’re an industry veteran or new to the world of Hip Hop production or Beat making, you have to develop your own new styles and techniques, given a little time and hard work. Hard work is always there, it is the most important factor at success. If you don’t work at it – how can you keep it?
Training your ear to hear what the industry looks for, developing your own unique hip hop production style, techniques and fundamentals; is such an important aspect to the business of hip hop(and it is a business), but again and again, one finds that success in the hip hop or rap world comes down to sticking with it and again…..hard work….
When you start creating beats and beat making, you will first have to Impress your family, friends and potential music buyers, but then you will be thrown into the real world, where buyers and those signing artists are going to be brutal, really, really brutal….then what are you going to do?
Are you going to rely on your own negative thoughts or are you going to say ‘I need to work harder’, again, everywhere you go, in any business, hard work is what will get you there.
