I agree. I think people should just take it as what it means to them personally. I could see it both ways.
i love this song…it doesnt matter if she’s singing about god or not, overall its a great song. but it makes sense that it is about god…i never thought of that until reading the comments…

@gothbird512 When she talks in the middle, it also clearly alludes to the attributes of God and to His qualities! Being able to “blind the darkness” and to have a beauty that can cover “pain and grief” are not the qualities of a man or woman! They are the qualities of a very personal and powerful God. But hey man, if you wanna use this song on your wedding day, it’s fine with me too! Beautiful song.
@gothbird512 thanks for your comment! I’d like to clarify a few things. If you’ve ever heard of an illustration where there is a throne that represents our lives and then lots of different bubbles around it-school, work, family, etc-
As Christians, we would want God to be on that throne, or in the “center of our universe”, reigning and ruling. God indeed is lovely and beautiful enough for words and images like the ones from Tumes to be used as a small part of his description!

Actually I disagree. I think it’s about a guy. Because the lyrics say “you’re the center of MY universe” If it were indeed about God, it would THE universe wouldn’t it? I don’t disagree that she is a Chirstian singer but you can be Christian and sing about your love of a man/woman.
Also the song’s melodic harmonies are a bit more seductive and hypnotic. In the Bible it insinuates that your husband should be the center of your universe and that he should thereby treat you like gold.

I love this video.
I’ve seen so many dedications of this song, to their loved one. Though it may seem to be centered around a romance, it infact is a declaration of love and awe for God. To dedicate it to anyone else seems to suck the praise right out of it.
In my opinion, it was never meant to describe a love between humans. We can only strive to hope for it.
But God’s love is perfect and everything this song says about Him.
