I think you are taking this performance out of context.
Jusr do a little digging, look up all her performances from the 80s and you’ll see your opinion is nonsense.
Also keep in mind the tour schedule she had in addtion to interviews back to back.
No one with an actual musical ear would say that Whitney in her prime was just a studio singer.
You can say that about ANYONE even about Pavarotti if you judge him by one bad performance.
Miss Houston sang (2) lengthy, and vocally taxing songs – LIVE, and back-to-back – during this ‘86 MTV Awards.

Your like the VERY FRIST person ever to say that. A studio singer has NO ability live.. Whitney is not yelling or making loud noise.. Those are legit notes when musical virbrato is provided, and thats under standards of music theory. Maybe shes not of your liking, but thats understandable.. But to say she can’t sing when she is considered one of the best female singers of all time is obsurd. But i respect your opinion.
